When people read that we are a Sheboygan-based marketing and design firm, I’m sure they scratch their respective heads and resign themselves to looking up Sheboygan on Mapquest. See, just because our city has a funny name, people think it must be some Podunk little stage-stop on the way to Milwaukee or Green Bay.
That’s kinda true.
Sheboygan is situated almost exactly between Milwaukee and Green Bay—roughly sixty miles from both—right on the Western shore of Lake Michigan and at the mouth of the Sheboygan River. When the great interstates were being laid in this country, Sheboygan benefited by being on the corridor of I-43 that connected Milwaukee and Green Bay.
Over the course of its 162-or-so years of history, it was a city synonymous with ship building, commercial fishing, furniture manufacturing, the worlds finest plumbing products, some of the world’s finest cheese and the world’s best bratwurst. Beer was pretty big here, too (after all, we’re in Wisconsin), as Kingsbury had a brewery on the Sheboygan River.
Sheboygan has Lake Michigan—in all its glory! The view is spectacular, as is the vast array of summer recreational activities available here, including the most celebrated fresh water, inland surfing in the United States. No kidding! Also, Sheboygan has only recently become the first US Sailing Center on Lake Michigan, which means Olympic Sailors will train here and qualify for the games by racing in regattas here.
While ZDO hasn’t been here even one tenth of those 162 years, we have been helping our friends in the furniture, plumbing and bratwurst industries, along with a host of others, achieve historic marketing results since 1995.
